      1. The credit terms granted shall be 1 ½ months from the statement date and the total quantum of credit shall not exceed 2 times the BG amount whichever is first reached. Interest at the rate of 1.5% per month on daily rests would be charged on the overdue accounts from the date the sum is due until we receive full payment thereof.
      2. The Publisher shall not be responsible for any omission to insert an advertisement and reserves the right at its absolute discretion to reject, suspend, cancel or change the position/page/section of any advertisement booked and /or accepted for publication without prior notice or reference to the Advertiser.
      3. While every effort shall be made to adhere to the dates of insertion(s) specified by the Advertiser, the Publisher reserve the right to place the advertisement(s) on different date and /or to withhold the advertisement(s) without prior reference to the Advertiser. The Publisher shall not be liable for any loss occasioned by the failure of any advertisement(s) to appear on the date(s) specified by the Advertiser.
      4. The Publisher shall not be responsible for unsatisfactory reproduction of any advertisement if materials supplied are not made to its stipulated requirements.
      5. The Publisher shall have the right to make any alterations they consider necessary or desirable in any advertisement(s), or to require the Advertiser’s material to be amended to meet the Publisher’s approval.
      6. The right is reserved to destroy all negatives, artworks and material which have been in the Publisher’s custody for two months or more, provided always that instructions have not been received to the contrary from advertiser.
      7. The right is also reserved to do this without giving notice. Advertiser’s negatives, artworks, material etc. are held at advertiser’s risk and should be insured by them against fire or other damages.
      8. Restrictions on sizes of display advertisements are governed by prevailing conditions and shall vary from time to time and the Advertiser agrees to accept such variations as advised by the Publisher.
      9. The Publisher may revise the advertising rates upon giving 30 days notice to the advertiser.
      10. Complaints for any advertisements published shall be brought to the Publisher’s attention no later than 24 hours after publication date, otherwise the complaints shall not be entertained. The complaints shall be in writing. It shall be at the absolute discretion of the Publisher to address the complaints with corrective advertisement(s) to be done at the Publisher’s cost. Where the Publisher agrees to the corrective advertisement(s) it shall be at the absolute discretion of the Publisher as to the size of the advertisement(s). The date of the advertisement, the nature and wordings of the advertisement(s) and all matters relating to such a corrective advertisement(s). The Advertiser shall have no claims against the Publisher howsoever or whatsoever arising from the corrective advertisement(s).
      11. The Advertiser shall indemnify the Publisher in respect of costs, damages or other charges falling upon the Publisher as a result of legal actions or threatened legal actions arising from any advertisement(s) published in accordance with the copy or any other instructions given to the Publisher by the Advertiser or in accordance with the terms herein stated.
      12. Cancellations or transfers of Display advertisements require a notice of five (5) working days before publication date for black and white advertisements and twelve (12) working days before publication date for full colour/spot colour advertisements.
      13. Cancellations or transfers of Classified advertisements require a notice of three (3) working days before publication date for black and white advertisements and seven (7) working days before publication date for full colour/spot colour advertisements.
      14. The Advertiser agrees to submit to the jurisdiction of the courts in Shah Alam and/or in Kuala Lumpur in the event of the Publisher having to institute legal proceedings against the Advertiser in respect of any litigation.
      15. No advertisement tear sheet/cutting would be given by the Publisher for any advertisement published.
      16. The placement of advertisement(s) in the Publisher’s publications shall amount to the full acceptance of the above terms & conditions.
      17. A digital version of your print Display or Classified ad may be placed on The Star Online website.
      18. A digital version of your print Cherish ad may be placed on starcherish.com unless you have opted not to have the same uploaded when filing in the Advertisement Space Order.

    Late Material Submission Charges

    (a) RM250* per process colour for materials submitted after 5pm, 2 working days** before publication date

    (b) Additional late material charges of RM1,000 will be charged after the following deadlines (1 working day** before publication date)

    Material must be sent at the above stipulated times, failing which, a repeat ad copy or other filler ads will be used at Star Media Group’s discretion. All charges will be borne by the Advertiser.

    * “Per process colour” is defined as per advertisement booking. Example: Full Colour late material charges is RM250 x 4 process colours = RM1,000

    ** “Working day(s)” refers to Monday to Friday, excluding Saturday, Sunday and public holidays

    19. The background
    • On which the text is to be printed on should be hollowed out.
    • Text should be boldface sans serif typeface.

    Notes :

    1. Due to mode of printing (high speed web wet-on wet) on newsprint, a certain degree of set-off and see through must be expected.
    2. Misregistration of 0.5mm is acceptable in Newspaper colour printing.
    3. Advertisement printed on newsprint will always appear darker than the final sheet-fed proofs supplied by the production houses due to inevitable dot-gain.
